Howdy! The one thing I've struggled with over the last three years (and really since I started writing) is finding a routine. Granted the last 6-7 years (and especially the last 3) have been difficult when trying to combine writing with school. My writing life has pretty been much nonexistent for the last 3 years … Continue reading 100 Words A Day
Howdy! Warning before we proceed. Today is a fangirl type post. Two years ago, I stumbled across Crosshair Press and their associated imprint Steel Rigg Books. And so began my discovery of the Destiny Trilogy by A.C. Williams (co-founder of Crosshair and Steel Rigg). I quickly fell in love with the characters and fangirled to … Continue reading A Big Dang Truffle – New Name Blog Tour!
Howdy! I'm stealing the idea for this post from Jenelle Schmidt because it's an awesome idea and her first lines were great. First lines are terrifying and exhilarating to write at the same time. There's all the pressure to make sure to hook your reader and trying to set the right tone from the get-go. … Continue reading First Lines…Ish.
Howdy! So I missed my usual Thursday post because I kind of forgot it was Thursday and I'm pretty sure I missed a day somewhere this week. And I spent all of yesterday afternoon updating the website! (What do you think of the new look?) The lovely Deborah O'Carroll tagged me for the Life Lessons … Continue reading Life Lessons Learned From Fantasy Tag!

Figuring out a plot point/twist - Your MC's reaction to you telling him/her they have to carry the plot - Drooling … Continue reading Writing As Explained by Tangled
Howdy! I'm back on clinical rotation and I'm learning tons. Not the least of which is patience and how important it is. My clinical setting is a skilled nursing facility where patients have come in from the hospital and aren't ready to go home yet. I was working with a patient the other day who … Continue reading Staying Patient In A Fast World
Howdy! I'm excited to help out with a cover reveal for author and blogger friend Hope Ann! This is for her Hansel and Gretel retelling, which I'm excited about because I don't think that's a common one for retellings! It's also #3 in her Legends of Light novella series (which you should totally check out!). … Continue reading Shadows of the Hersweald Cover Reveal!
Howdy! So last week in my poll, writing updates scored pretty high. So I've decided to make the last Thursday of the month my writing update day. Aand there are some interesting things going on since last week. Tate Publishing, my publisher for the Aredor series, has closed. *cue some panicked running around* Fortunately I will be … Continue reading An Unfortunate Event?

Every morning when I open my inbox a landslide of emails from the online writing community pour out. Blog posts, newsletters, classes and programs and retreats. And then I jump on social media and the wave continues: Advice and instructions on character development, plotting your plot, finessing the end and then going back to that first page and polishing your opening hook until it sparkles and shines and catches the eye of every agent with an email address.
