Exiles (Ilyon 4) Release Blitz & Excerpt

Howdy!

So after hardly any book tours this year, there’s going to be quite a few on here in the next few weeks! 🙂 And that’s ok, because these are some awesome books I’m really excited about!

Today we have Book 4 in the Christian fantasy series, Ilyon Chronicles, Exiles! If you’ve been a follower of this blog for any amount of time, you know that I’m a big fan of this series. And if not, then I’m excited to offer you a glimpse of this series and it’s rather enthusiastic fandom. 🙂

Before we get to the excerpt, here’s a little bit about the book!

Exiled after their defeat in Samara, the Resistance struggles to find allies in their quest to restore King Balen to his throne and put an end to the emperor’s tyranny. When the crete people refuse to lend their aid, Balen leads a group to Dorland to reason with them and win their support. However, enemies prove to be everywhere, and they find themselves in a fight to keep Dorland from becoming Daican’s latest conquest.

Back in Landale, the arrival of a new enemy forces Trask and Anne to tread more carefully than ever. Tensions are rising, and the enemy is determined to test Anne’s loyalty and root out the location of Trask and the Resistance once and for all.

Feeling trapped within the walls of Valcré, Prince Daniel must contend with an ever-eroding relationship with his father. As their clashes escalate, the situation becomes potentially life threatening when his loyalty is called into question. His sister seems bent on branding him a traitor and actively seeking to condemn him to the fate of those put to death in their father’s new arena. Daniel is certain his father would never execute his only son and heir, but with other forces at work, it might not be that simple.

One small misstep could prove fatal for all.

Excerpt!

Jace gazed out across the bridge hanging suspended over the open space to its anchor point some sixty feet away. A thick band wrapped around his throat, his legs turning wobbly. He struggled to halt the rapid acceleration of his heart, but it defied him. All the same sickening sensations he’d experienced the first day he’d flown with Gem rushed back.

He found some small measure of comfort that he wasn’t the only one who appeared to have reservations. Some of the others glanced nervously at each other, and Marcus took a cautious glimpse over the edge. Jace didn’t have to join him to imagine the fall they would face if the bridge collapsed. This close to the treetops, they were at least two hundred fifty feet from the ground. He failed to swallow past his dried-out throat.

“I assure you, it is secure,” Darq said, though Jace wasn’t sure if it was only for his benefit or the whole group. “We maintain and inspect our bridges regularly. Safety is taken very seriously.”

He and Glynn started across first, followed by Talas, Leetra, Timothy, and Aaron. One by one, the others stepped out onto the bridge, which swayed gently with their footsteps. Jace’s knees weakened just watching them. He clenched his fists. He should have conquered this by now. Would he ever have victory over some of these recurring battles?

Rayad was one of the last to go and mumbled under his breath, “I’m getting too old for these sorts of adventures.”

Jace almost smiled, but it died immediately. Now only he and Kyrin remained on the plateau. She stepped to the bridge and paused to turn back to him.

“We’ll go together.”

She gave him a heartening smile, but his feet fused to the rock. As much as he wanted to follow her, his blood had turned to immovable ice. His mind accused him of being weak and cowardly in front of her. However, her smile only grew, and she held out her hand.

“Come on, nothing will happen to us.”

Ugh! I don’t like heights either. This would totally be me. 🙂
